Equipop is one of the associations that will sit on the High Council for Gender Equality. This is recognition of the work accomplished in recent years, which goes hand in hand with a responsibility shared with the other members: that of contributing to equality policies over the next three years.
On June 25, Nicolas Rainaud, Head of Advocacy for France and International Affairs, was appointed member of the High Council for Gender Equality (HCE) as representative of Equipop for the 2019-2021 term, under the chairmanship of Brigitte Grésy.
The HCE was created in 2013 to stimulate public debate on issues of gender equality and women's rights. Its mission is to evaluate public policies dealing with gender equality, disseminate research in this field, and make recommendations to the Prime Minister.
This appointment follows various collaborations between Equipop and the HCE. For example, Equipop contributed to the work carried out as part of the monitoring of the "Gender and Development 2013-2017" strategy. The two organizations have also conducted joint advocacy on several issues, including financing for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and the promotion of inclusive writing.
Equipop will share the lessons learned during its 25 years of existence, particularly in terms of gender mainstreaming in national public policies, international negotiations, and the voluntary sector.
Equipop hopes to contribute to discussions on two priority issues: affirming SRHR as the foundation for combating gender inequality and operationalizing France's "feminist diplomacy" initiative.
Equipop would like to thank Prime Minister Edouard Philippe and Secretary of State for Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Marlène Schiappa for their trust. Finally, the association would like to acknowledge the commitment of Danielle Bousquet, president of the HCE during its first two terms.
