– C'est la vie Labs... it's over!

As part of the CLV Labs projects, Equipop supported two civil society consortia in broadening the reach of the issues raised in the radio and TV series C’est la vie ! This project, which is now coming to an end, has helped to promote access to information on SRHR in Burkina Faso and Niger.     Launched in December 2018 to Burkina Faso and at NigerThe CLV Labs projects are coming to an end. They were organized around a tripartite partnership between RAES, Equipop, and two CSO consortia. To effectively address the challenges of accessing SRHR information, each partner played a specific role: RAES designed the edutainment tools, Equipop provided technical support, and the consortia implemented the incubated activities.  The objective of the project That's life Lab Burkina Faso was—through the expertise of mentors—to use the social spaces of adolescents and young people in the town of Ziniaré (kiosks and girls' clubs) to create places for listening to discussions about SRHR using CLV tools. As for the project That's life Lab Niger, the goal was to Encourage young couples in the Filingué area to discuss SRHR. This was achieved through educational talks on life skills such as conflict management. through the benevolent eyes of Tarmamoua Gari, partners in the field trained to facilitate discussion sessions.  The projects took place in environments where numerous sociocultural obstacles stand in the way of establishing a culture of dialogue on SRHR, not only for young people but also among newly married couples and between generations.    CLV Labs and COVID-19  After only one week of activities, RAES, in agreement with Equipop and the consortia, decided to suspend gathering activities and missions. This was due to the Covid-19 protection measures taken by the Burkinabe and Nigerien governments, and given the speed at which the virus was spreading. To continue our work supporting our partners, two virtual capacity-building programs on SRHR were set up:

  • a program for mentors and Tarmamoua Gari
  • a second one for consortium members.
CLV Labs, the comeback!  In December 2020, activities in the field resumed and continued until April 2021. Workshops using various tools and involving different participants were able to restart.

CLV Labs at a glance – full capitalization document available here    CLV tools help to take sexuality out of the purely medical sphere and anchor it more closely to the concerns of young people and adolescents. They also contribute to working on sociocultural representations and thinking about sexuality as a "total social fact." Indeed, dialogues and debates make it possible to highlight accurate perspectives, without prejudice, ridicule, or moralizing. The series and kit, meanwhile, make it possible to challenge gender and intergenerational stereotypes. Finally, the tools make it possible to mobilize actors toward a collective ambition for change.   Changes observed following CLV Labs! For project monitoring and evaluation, change-oriented approaches were used. The closing workshops held in May provided an opportunity to discuss what happened, what people noticed, what they changed and how, and, conversely, what did not change and why.   The capitalization document compiles the most significant changes observed among consortium members, field partners (mentors and Tamamoua Gari), and beneficiaries. Please feel free to contact the team for more information on the changes observed and the mechanisms for implementing change-oriented approaches (COA).
