Nicolas Rainaud, advocacy manager at Equipop and member of the HCE from 2019 to 2021, is joining the high council for a second term (2022-2024) under the chairmanship of Sylvie Pierre-Brossolette. Through its involvement in the HCE, Equipop will campaign, among other things, for the implementation of a genuine feminist foreign policy.

The new members of the High Council for Gender Equality (HCE) were appointed on March 17, 2022.the chairmanship of Sylvie Pierre-Brossolette, these 96 representatives (social partners, elected officials, and civil society) will work until 2024 to "ensure consultation with civil society and lead public debate on the main directions of women's rights and equality policy" in France.

This renewal confirms new priorities for the HCE, unveiled during the first plenary session on April 8, including, for example, an assessment of the representation of women and men following the presidential and legislative elections, assessing France's commitments to feminist diplomacy, the second edition of the new barometer on the state of sexism in France, and the psychological trauma of women victims of violence and the centers supposed to care for them.

This new mandate also marks the merger of the HCE with the CSEP (High Council for Professional Equality between Women and Men), which will focus more on the impact of teleworking on women's lives and monitoring the Penicaud index, which measures wage inequalities in companies with at least 50 employees.

A strategic space for pursuing and advancing France's feminist foreign policy

Following on from Equipop's contribution over the past two years, Nicolas Rainaud, Advocacy Manager, now co-chairs the "Feminist Diplomacy and International and European Issues" committee alongside Jocelyne Adriant-Mebtoul, President of CLEF.

The announcement of feminist diplomacy marks the beginning of a positive but insufficient dynamic. Equipop will continue to mobilize to promote and consolidate a feminist foreign policy at the institutional level, in particular by monitoring the commitments made by France at the Generation Equality Forum last June.
