– A feminist foreign policy for the 2022–2027 presidential term

“Adopting feminist foreign policies to respond to the global challenges of the 21st century” – With this document, Equipop highlights a major issue for the upcoming five-year term. It is currently being shared with the teams of the presidential candidates and will subsequently be distributed to members of parliament so that they commit to promoting and implementing a feminist foreign policy.

Recent crises have exposed more than ever the interdependencies that bind us together on a global scale and the weaknesses of our "development model." The major challenge of the critical period we are going through lies in the need to build a new global coexistence. We argue that feminist foreign policies are a powerful lever for this, and it would be wrong to ignore them.

  1. are working toward a different model of global coexistence
  2. advocate a concept of power based on cooperation

The year 2022 represents a turning point in the implementation of such a foreign policy in France. In 2019, following in the footsteps of Canada and Sweden, France declared the adoption of "feminist diplomacy"—the beginning of a positive but insufficient dynamic in practice. In order to implement a truly feminist foreign policy, we call on the next government to:

  1. Transforming institutional culture from the ground up
  2. Strengthening the consistency of French policies
  3. Significantly increase funding
  4. Involve feminist researchers, networks, and activists in policy-making and provide them with financial support.
  5. Ensuring follow-up and accountability for France's commitment to a feminist foreign policy
