– Women's rights and health during and after the COVID-19 crisis

This project focuses on frontline action to identify women who are victims of gender-based and sexual violence at an early stage, to register them and provide them with support so that they can begin a process of recognition and recovery.

The innovation of this project lies in the fact that interventions take place in high-traffic areas such as train stations and markets, and involve the mobilization of women leaders with well-developed networks and influence at the community level. The commitment of these women, their ability to identify issues, listen actively, and empathize are fundamental to welcoming and guiding women who often suffer from a combination of gender-based violence (denial of resources, deprivation of property, insults and harassment, denial of parental rights, physical and psychological violence).

These women find themselves in situations of extreme suffering and need appropriate, integrated care that offers legal, medical, psychological, social, and economic support. The support services offered enable them to do so. These women find a caring and non-judgmental welcome, as well as the support of competent professionals who are ready to accompany them in whatever steps they choose to take. This is the first and essential step on the path to recovery and empowerment which, once begun, often enables women survivors to become involved in the fight against violence themselves.
