In May 2021, the Collectif Générations Féministes (Feminist Generations Collective), of which Equipop is a member, launched the global campaign #StopTalkingStartFunding against gender-based violence, in partnership with #NousToutes. A look back at the mobilization.
The campaign focused on two demands: dedicating at least 0.1% of each country's GDP to combating gender-based and sexual violence; and guaranteeing and facilitating access to justice for victims. The campaign used a website to call on heads of state to make real financial commitments to end GBV. The mobilization culminated on June 23 and 24, one week before the WEF, in a 24-hour Feminist World Tour .
Feminist World Tour
This live-streamed event brought together feminists from every continent and more than thirty countries. It was another opportunity to give a voice to young West African feminists. Equipop worked with its partner networks to facilitate their participation. Aurélie Gal-Régniez, director of Equipop, opened the Tour du Monde with Anne-Cécile Mailfert, president of the Fondation des Femmes, and Françoise Moudouthe, executive director of the African Women's Development Fund (AWDF), on the issue of funding to combat gender-based and sexual violence. Equipop also organized an event on Media and Gender-Based Violence , which brought together journalists from four countries. Our partners at JED (Senegal) broadcast a "feminist vernissage," and RJFAO hosted the round table that launched the Sororités Francophonescycle. The day before the opening of the FGE, the Collectif Générations Féministes organized a press conference in Paris with Oxfam and the Fondation des Femmes. In an original format (the conference took place on a barge that sailed up the Seine to the Ministry of Finance), this action reiterated the demands of the #StopTalkingStartFunding campaign.
