– “Where is the money for SRHR?”: sign the appeal!

Two weeks ago, President Macron pledged to make the defense of women's rights, and in particular sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), a priority for France. To ensure that these statements are followed up with action, Equipop, in partnership with five institutions and associations, is launching an appeal. Please sign and share it as widely as possible!

On Wednesday, September 20, 2017, a large mobilization event organized at the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE) in Paris called on French politicians to make financial commitments to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Equipop co-organized this conference with the CESE, UN Women France, the Fondation des Femmes, the Fonds pour les Femmes en Méditerranée, the High Council for Gender Equality, and Women’s WorldWide Web.

In front of an audience of 300 people, speakers from a wide range of backgrounds took the floor to describe the rise of conservative movements and the decline in funding for sexual and reproductive rights, and to highlight the role that France must play in providing solutions in terms of funding.

In order to amplify the mobilization, Equipop launched, at the conclusion of the symposium, the appeal "To advance gender equality, France must invest in sexual and reproductive rights."

The goal is to collect as many individual signatures and signatures from associations as possible, in France and abroad (see the English version), before officially submitting the text of the appeal to the French executive on International Human Rights Day, December 10.
