As part of its technical support for CSOs, Equipop assists its partners with the organizational development of their structures. This is made possible by a dedicated fund called the "DO Fund." Pascal Ilboudo, Organizational Support Officer at Equipop, explains what this type of support involves within the Fondemsan program and the changes it brings about.
What does DO support consist of within the FONDEMSAN program?
Our DO support consists of assisting organizations receiving the grant in adopting the quality approach and its SCAN tool. This tool enables organizations to carry out their own organizational self-assessment. DO support also enables beneficiaries to identify and develop their priority improvement projects (PAPs) and, in turn, submit their PAPs to the DO Fund. In addition, beneficiaries receive support in implementing and monitoring their priority improvement projects. Finally, organizations that wish to do so receive support in the process of certifying their structures.
How far along are we in implementing the fund?
Since its implementation in 2020, the DO fund has been 2020, the DO Fund has been fully allocated to 12 organizations by the allocation committee. These organizations are located in Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Guinea. In addition, 11 out of 12 projects have been fully implemented to date.
What are the major achievements you have observed among partners who have benefited from the DO Fund as part of FONDEMSAN?
As part of the FONDEMSAN program, we found that partners have embraced the quality approach. Organizations have also become aware of the importance of DO in developing their structures, mobilizing resources, and increasing the impact of their actions. In addition, we noted that some partners mobilized additional resources (both internal and external) to implement PAPs not financed by the DO Fund. The governance and functioning of organizations were also strengthened through the improvement of organizational practices in the areas affected by the projects.
