– Women & Media: Equality Meetings

On February 25, 2025, Equipop, Prenons la Une ! and La Fronde, in partnership with the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE), are organizing a day of reflection and discussion between journalists, editors, experts, and French and international feminist associations. This is an essential meeting to debate the current challenges facing the media and their role in the face of rising conservatism.

In recent years, a large-scale conservative offensive has been unfolding worldwide, targeting women and LGBTQIA+ people in particular. In this context of backlash, the media has a role to play in the functioning of democracy by helping to raise awareness.   How can journalists better cover issues related to women's rights and gender equality? How can ethical journalistic practices be promoted? How are developments in the world of information impacting the work of journalists (precariousness, economic model, media concentration, etc.)?
