– EDUCASSO: making comprehensive sexuality education a reality in Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire

Equipop is a partner in the EDUCASO project, alongside RAES, which aims to advocate for the integration of comprehensive sexuality education in schools in Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire.

Overview of Comprehensive Sexuality Education in Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire

In each country, two main partners are responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the project:

  • AFJ/CIand the NGOMESSIin Ivory Coast,
  • AGBEFand thePROSMIFoundation in Guinea.

These associations are supported by a technical advocacy subgroup, bringing togetherassociations, NGOs, UN agencies, ministries, and technical departments in health, education, etc. This broad mobilization enables all stakeholders to beinvolvedand to achieve the project's objectives more quickly.

At the end of September, in Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire, the project partners gathered to take stock of comprehensive sexuality education(CSE)in their countries. Each stakeholder was able to explain their work in support ofCSE, as well as its history, following the example of the Ministry of Education, which presented the modules already in place at different levels. This allowedparticipantsto better understand the situation in their countries and to begin considering the next steps in advocating for the integration of comprehensive sexuality education into school curricula.

Equipopsupports organizations in advocacy

As a technical partner,Equipopplays a role in supporting and strengthening the advocacy capacities of its partners. These missions also provided an opportunity to take stock of partners' advocacy knowledge, past actions, difficulties encountered, and advocacy training needs.

Next steps: training andwebinarson advocacy techniques. Through remote and in-person training in each country,Equipopwill strive to best meet the needs of its partners in order to make comprehensive sexuality education a reality.
