Press release
Paris, June 18, 2018
Equipop will have a booth at Solidays,
on June 22, 23, and 24, 2018.
From June 22 to 24, Equipop will be present at the Solidays Solidarity Village* and will use this platform to raise awareness among festival-goers about the sexual and reproductive rights of women and girls in West Africa and around the world.
Equipop will be present throughout the festival at the Solidarity Village to meet festival-goers. Accompanied by young volunteers committed to Equipop for women's rights, Equipop will pursue three missions: to inform, raise awareness, and mobilize.
Through edutainment gamesedutainment (themed Mölkky, quizzes, etc.), volunteers will inform and raise awareness among visitors to the stand about the issues of sexual and reproductive rights and health for women and girls in West Africa and around the world.
Because Equipop believes that social and political mobilization are inseparable when it comes to improving the status of women, defending their rights, and changing attitudes, festival-goers will be able to sign a petition calling on the French government to make the rights of girls around the world a priority for the G7, which France will chair in 2019.
A highlight of this participation in Solidays will be the presence of an artist at the stand on Saturday, June 23, from 4 to 6 p.m., who will draw portraits of girls asserting their rights. Passersby will be invited to suggest messages that these girls could convey. On Sunday, June 24, at the same time, a West African journalist will conduct a vox pop to hear and share the views of festival-goers interested in international solidarity.
This is the first time Equipop has participated in Solidays, and for us it is an opportunity to engage young people and, who knows, perhaps inspire them to pursue careers in defending the rights of women and girls, both in France and internationally.
