For once, the members and employees of Equipop, along with a few friends of the association, gathered on October 12 for the General Assembly. It was an opportunity to take stock of 2015 and highlight the prospects for 2016.
Positive developments in 2015 and challenges ahead for 2016
Following the President's report, the Executive Director of Equipop presented the various initiatives developed by Equipop in 2015, including:
- new partnerships on the ground in Senegal and Mali
- thematic publications and manuals
- technical webinars on advocacy, communication, and ICT
- assistance to partners in the field.
For the NGO, 2016 marks the start of a series of internal and external challenges that will enable the organization to develop and strengthen its various activities. A wide range of actions therefore await the association, including strengthening the links between programs and policies and acting as an intermediary between local CSOs and international donors. To support these efforts, two new members have been elected to the board: Daphné Tesson and Luc de Bernis.

Focus on programs and achievements for Alliance Droits et Santé (Alliance for Rights and Health) and training for young female leaders
The team took advantage of this AGM to present to its members and supporters a number of key programs launched and developed in 2015. These included the campaign for sexual and reproductive rights and health within the Alliance Droits et Santé network, initiated by Equipop in 2013, and leadership training for young girls in Niger. To promote these various actions and contribute to the achievement of advocacy objectives, new websites are currently being developed and were unveiled for the first time at the event. In order to share the new dynamic of engagement within the organization, a few photos from the ongoing report on good practices in family planning in West Africa were presented by the volunteer photographer. They will be featured in a major exhibition in the sub-region in 2017 to encourage governments and donors to commit to this issue, which is already mobilizing a large number of people and a great deal of enthusiasm!
The end of 2016 and 2017 are therefore shaping up to be busy times for Equipop, which continues to take action and mobilize support for women's rights and health in West Africa.
