– Change agents mobilize on social media against female genital mutilation

"When all women and men become aware of the harmful effects of female genital mutilation, then they will be convinced, as I am, of the need to abandon this practice." R. Sissoko.

Female genital mutilation (FGM) remains a topical issue. Worldwide, 200 million women and girls have undergone some form of excision, including approximately 53,000 in France. Fifteen million girls aged 15 to 19 are at risk of undergoing FGM by 2030. FGM is a violation of human rights. It causes serious physical and mental health problems for women.

The involvement of communities in which FGM is practiced, both within diasporas and in countries of origin, is necessary for the definitive abandonment of this practice. Aware of this responsibility, Equipop's change mediators, who come from Mauritania, Mali, and Senegal and are leaders in their communities, are actively involved in informing and accelerating the process of abandoning the practice.
