– “Protective parents: Female genital mutilation stops with me!”

May 17, 2025 marks the launch of the international campaign to prevent female genital mutilation:  "Protective Parents: FGM Stops with Me!" This campaign highlights a courage that is rarely discussed: that of protective parents. Those who have refused female genital mutilation for their daughters, against their own community, and sometimes alone.

These parents made difficult choices: confronting their loved ones, distancing themselves to better protect their children. These decisions are rarely recognized. By giving parents a voice, we are making another voice heard: that of protection! For several weeks, we will be sharing these stories on social media, in the media, and within the communities concerned.  In France, nearly 29,000 girls were born in a country where female genital mutilation is practiced. Thanks to the parents who dared to say no and decided to speak out, we are encouraging others to make the same protective choice. Follow, share, and spread their message!
