– Feminist generations: Lyon and its metropolitan area, a region of equality

Supporting the emergence of a feminist generation in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and the Lyon metropolitan area is the goal of this new project launched by Equipop in April 2023, in partnership with the Lyon-based association Filactions. Let's foster a culture of gender equality that is open to the world!

Committed to fostering a culture of equality

Gender-based and sexual violence are a persistent social reality. The stakes are high: raising awareness among young people and reworking gender relations means enabling respectful and healthy relationships from school onwards and preventing the emergence of such violence in both the short and long term. Raising awareness of gender equality in schools helps to forge a new generation that will drive change in a world where the rights of women and gender and sexual minorities are often threatened. In partnership with Filactions, a feminist prevention and awareness-raising association, Equipop will work to develop a culture of equality in secondary and higher education institutions through cultural tools and popular educational methods. Middle and high school students will participate, for example, in film discussions addressing gender equality issues. Like the short film Adrianna mon Amour , which addresses violence in romantic relationships at all ages.

Strengthening momentum for gender equality

The project Feminist Generations: Lyon and its metropolitan area, a territory of equality builds on Equipop's expertise and experience in social and political mobilization.  Consolidating the momentum for gender equality means providing financial and technical support for projects created by young people who are committed to gender equality. It also means identifying the key players in gender equality and forging links between young feminists in Lyon and French-speaking women in West Africa. Feminist Generations will support the commitments of local actors globally. In this way, the project will contribute to making the Lyon metropolitan area and the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region a true laboratory for gender equality open to the world.

What can we expect in the coming months?

Awareness campaigns, projects, cultural activities, the creation of spaces for engagement, meetings... and feminist mobilization for today and tomorrow!
