– Equipop, Young Feminists of West Africa, and Alliance Droits et Santé mobilized for the FGE! #2 – Agathe Blanc

Agathe Blanc, from the Association of Women Lawyers of Côte d'Ivoire, represents Alliance Droits et Santé in the Generation Equality Forum (GEF) Action Coalition on "Right to Control One's Own Body, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)". A look back at her involvement in the Generation Equality Forum:

What is your involvement in the Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Health Coalition of the Generation Equality Forum?

Alliance Droits et Santé is co-leader of the Action Coalition "Right to Control One's Body, Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Health." In this capacity, I act as the focal point: I am the network spokesperson, representing it at online events to which we are invited and conveying our messages.  We have therefore participated in developing the actions of this coalition by promoting the priorities of Alliance Droits et Santé (Alliance for Rights and Health) and, above all, by giving a voice to French-speaking Africa, which is too often marginalized at these major meetings. Furthermore, the FGE is an opportunity to take action for the rights of women and girls, but it is not well known. As an activist in the fight for gender equality, I am putting my commitment to work for the Forum by communicating about this important milestone, which will mark a turning point in the struggle. Together with the Alliance members, I am therefore relaying the relevant information to journalists, bloggers, civil society organizations, and institutions.

Why is Alliance Droits et Santé mobilizing for the FGE, and what are its priorities for this event?

The stakes are high for Alliance Droits et Santé. We are committed to sexual and reproductive health and rights in French-speaking West Africa, and the FGE is an opportunity we are seizing to promote these rights. Indeed, it is a question of proposing concrete courses of action to advance the human rights approach. In particular, we advocate for Comprehensive Sexuality Education: it enables us to change norms, impact the lives of millions of children and adolescents, and thus achieve a generation of equality. This is a transformative approach promoted by Alliance Droits et Santé organizations at the national and regional levels with the #JeVeuxSavoir campaign, as well as at the international level during the FGE. Equipop supports us in this commitment by raising awareness of our actions, amplifying our interventions, and guiding us in our advocacy efforts.   Equipop, the Network of Young Feminists in West Africa, and Alliance Droits et Santé are mobilizing to ensure that this high-level global meeting leads to decisive state commitments to the rights of women and girls around the world.
